The Ministry Behind the Production
Sacred Arts Ministry of Evangelization
SAME exists to evangelize through beauty — drawing families and communities into an encounter with Christ through sacred music, theater, storytelling, and visual art.
The Sacred Arts Ministry of Evangelization — SAME — is a Catholic sacred arts ministry connected to St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Through sacred music, theater, visual art, storytelling, and community participation, SAME creates faith-filled experiences that help people encounter Christ in a powerful and memorable way.
SAME is not simply a production company or a yearly Christmas show. The annual production is the visible fruit of a larger ministry of evangelization, prayer, volunteer service, youth and family involvement, rehearsal, faith formation, and community outreach. It brings together local singers, actors, musicians, artists, families, youth, and volunteers from across the Midland-Odessa region.
Through beauty, people who might not normally attend a church event can encounter the Gospel in a way that is emotional, accessible, and spiritually meaningful.
What We Do
Sacred Music
Original compositions, beloved hymns, and timeless carols woven together to create a prayerful musical experience that stirs the soul.
Theater & Storytelling
Cinematic sacred productions that bring the stories of faith to life with reverence, dramatic power, and artistic beauty.
Evangelization
Every production is a mission: to share the Gospel, awaken faith, and point hearts toward Christ — especially those who might not otherwise encounter Him.
Community
SAME unites singers, actors, musicians, artists, families, youth, sponsors, and volunteers in a shared work of faith and beauty.
Formation
Participants do more than perform. Through rehearsal, prayer, Scripture, and sacred storytelling, they are invited to grow in faith while helping others encounter Christ.
Our Growth
Over the past three years, SAME's Christmas productions have grown steadily, showing a real desire in our community for sacred music, storytelling, and family-centered Christmas experiences.

Our Vision for 2026
For The Light Was Born, SAME hopes to serve up to 850 audience members at the historic Ector Theatre in Odessa while engaging more than 60 volunteers, performers, musicians, artists, and production team members from across the Midland-Odessa region.
The goal is not only to present a beautiful show, but to create an encounter with the mystery of Christmas — a moment where families can experience the light of Christ through music, story, and beauty.
